Netflix reveals Rebel Moon: Blood Line, a fun mobile spinoff game

The world of Rebel Moon is about to expand even further. Not with another movie just yet, but with an exciting new mobile game from Netflix Games. The game, titled Rebel Moon: Blood Line, has been in development for some time and is finally getting its first public look during Netflix’s Geeked Week presentation.

During the Geeked Week presentation, viewers got a glimpse of the gameplay of Blood Line, along with some insights from the developers at Super Evil Megacorp. The trailer showcased the squad-based action gameplay, with players taking on various missions and battling against waves of enemies. The top-down shooting aspect forms a significant part of the core gameplay loop.

Prior to the Netflix event, Polygon had the opportunity to play a demo of Rebel Moon: Blood Line and chat with the developers. They learned that the game is set within the Rebel Moon universe but is largely independent of the plot of the Zack Snyder movies. The idea for the game originated shortly after the film’s development, with Snyder and his team sharing world-building materials, allowing the developers at Super Evil Megacorp to explore and expand the universe. The game focuses on a new segment of the universe and delves into the factions of the Imperium and the rebellion, providing more backstory and details. It takes place on a planet called Krypt, where players join the rebel faction in their fight against the overwhelming might of the Imperium.

The gameplay of Rebel Moon: Blood Line is surprisingly deep and engaging. It offers a short mission-style experience, with each mission lasting around 5 to 15 minutes. Players are tasked with completing various unique objectives while facing waves of enemies from all sides. The difficulty level can be adjusted, and as it increases, the enemy numbers ramp up, adding to the challenge and making the gameplay more exciting.

One of the standout features of the game is its unique classes. There are four distinct classes: the Bannerguard, which acts as a tank, the Evoker, a healer, the Kindred, a ranged DPS with a bow, and the Forsaken, a stealthy quick melee DPS. Each class has its own set of abilities that synergize well with each other, providing a variety of playstyles. For example, the Kindred has crowd control abilities, the Bannerguard has a taunt to draw enemy attention, and the Forsaken has high-damage and quick repositioning skills. Understanding and utilizing these abilities effectively can make a significant difference in gameplay.

Playing with a full squad is highly recommended as it enhances the gameplay experience. Each class can fulfill a different role, and working together as a team can lead to more successful missions. The synergy between the classes can create powerful combinations and strategies. Additionally, the higher difficulty levels may require careful coordination and the use of each class’s abilities to overcome the challenges.
