Copilot+ PCs mark a new era for Windows. Microsoft’s implementation of AI is crucial to these new devices, and so is the transition to Arm. Currently, Copilot+ is mainly associated with Qualcomm’s Arm chips due to the required high-performance neutral processing unit (NPU). These new laptops are characterized by their thinness, power, and excellent battery life, offering a great alternative to the MacBook Air. Here are some of our favorites among the Copilot+ laptops we’ve seen so far:

Microsoft Surface Laptop

The Surface Laptop has long aimed to be a serious competitor to the MacBook Air. It has a sleek design and has typically been quite thin. However, it has faced challenges in terms of performance and battery life. As a Copilot+ PC with the Snapdragon X chips, the latest Surface Laptop easily overcomes these obstacles. Now, it seems to have the potential to live up to its expectations. Microsoft also took the opportunity to make some aesthetic tweaks. It has thinner bezels, a larger haptic feedback trackpad, and new color options. The new Surface Laptop is the Copilot+ PC I’m most eager to spend more time with. Given that the Copilot+ program belongs to Microsoft, we can expect the Surface to be the flagship option. Coupled with a starting price of $999, it offers great value.

Although this list focuses on laptops, we should also mention the new Surface Pro. The 2-in-1 remains a unique device, and its improved performance and battery life are likely to inspire a new generation of Windows tablets and detachable 2-in-1s. I’m particularly excited about the gorgeous OLED screen.

Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge

Samsung is renowned for making ultrathin laptops, and the Copilot+ models take this to a new level. At just 0.43 inches thick, they are even thinner than a MacBook Air. This is largely due to the Arm chip inside, which enables such high efficiency without sacrificing performance. The size alone makes it one of the devices I’m most excited to test on this list. Samsung offers two size options: a 14-inch and a 16-inch. Both are extremely thin and come with an AMOLED screen. The 16-inch model has some additional features, such as an HDMI port, a larger touchpad, and larger storage configurations. Samsung is also introducing a new feature that connects its products. Copilot on your PC can directly connect to Phone Link and run tasks on your Samsung phone or tablet.

There are some aspects of Samsung that I don’t particularly like, such as the large bottom bezel or number pad (on the 16-inch model), but the Galaxy Book4 Edge showcases just how thin these devices can be. The 14-inch model starts at $1,350, and the 16-inch model starts at $1,450.

Dell XPS 13 (9345)

The Copilot+ version of the XPS 13 looks similar to the current Intel offering, model 9340. While a new design would have been nice, Dell already has a cutting-edge option with the current XPS 13. The new design is not universally loved; in fact, it’s quite controversial. The seamless glass trackpad seamlessly blends into the palm rests, giving it an incredibly modern and minimalist aesthetic. The capacitive touch buttons that replace the function row keys are perhaps the most criticized aspect, as is the lack of a headphone jack. However, if you can overlook these quirks, the XPS 13 with the Snapdragon X Elite is sure to shine. There is no laptop as premium and forward-thinking as the XPS 13, and this new, powerful Arm chip ensures its performance and battery life are on par with the M3 MacBook Air. What’s exciting about the XPS 13 9345 is that we are finally getting the most premium Windows laptops on Arm. This shows confidence in these new chips and Microsoft’s ability to support them. It is currently priced just $50 more than the Intel version. Based on the performance and battery life claims, I can’t imagine why you would choose Intel instead.

The Dell XPS 13 will start at $1,300 with a Snapdragon X Elite, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage.

HP OmniBook X 14

HP took a different approach by rebranding its entire laptop line. The familiar Spectre and Envy brands are gone, replaced by Omni. The top-of-the-line device at present is the OmniBook X 14, a Copilot+ PC with a distinct new look. There is no doubt that HP is aiming for the MacBook aesthetic here, but the OmniBook X 14 definitely has its own charm, especially with the all-white model. The chassis looks incredibly thin, and the soft, rounded edges are appealing. The design of the keyboard and the colored accents on the function row keys make it stand out, both from HP’s previous laptops and the other Copilot+ options.

The OmniBook X 14 will start at $1,150 for a Snapdragon X Elite configuration with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x

Luke Larsen / Digital Trends

One of the benefits of improved CPU efficiency is the ability to create thinner laptops. The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is one of the thinnest laptops in the bunch, at just 0.5 inches thick and weighing less than 3 pounds. It also features a 14.5-inch OLED screen, a quad-speaker sound system with upward-firing tweeters, and a large touchpad. Otherwise, it resembles other Lenovo Yoga laptops, but it is smaller, more powerful, and has longer battery life. Apart from the AI features, the strength of the Copilot+ platform lies in its overall improvement. All in all, these are simply much better all-round laptops than what we have seen before in this class of Windows laptops.

The best part is that this is just the beginning. If this turns out to be a successful venture, we can hopefully expect more innovative designs that push the boundaries of what is possible when using these efficient chips to build devices.
