AI has been causing issues for schools and educational institutions ever since ChatGPT first emerged. Now, a new education startup is embracing AI rather than resisting it. Andrej Karpathy, who once worked at OpenAI, has launched his “AI+Education” startup called Eureka Labs. Karpathy envisions a school built around AI, with human teachers and digital assistants working together. He likens it to learning with renowned physicist Richard Feynman. In an X post, Karpathy echoes Steve Jobs’ sentiment about capturing an Aristotle’s worldview in a computer. To achieve this, Eureka Labs plans to release an undergraduate course on building AI. The course will be available online and in cohorts, and no details on cost or availability are yet known. Eureka Labs is entering a crowded field where AI has grown rapidly. It aims to offer various learning aids like AI-generated games and adaptive platforms. Google announced Gemini for Classroom recently, and apps like Caktus are designed for students. Eureka Labs isn’t the only one pursuing AI-first education. In this evolving landscape, the potential of AI in education is being explored to address challenges and innovate teaching practices.
