After numerous years have passed since the Nintendo Switch’s existence, I thought I had witnessed every ingenious and essential accessory crafted for this handheld console. It seems that I overlooked one! Hyperkin may be renowned primarily for its affectionate recreations of Xbox controllers, but I am utterly enamored by the creation that is the Armor3 “NuType” keyboard as depicted above.

This USB wired keyboard is meant to be wedged between Joy-Con controllers, thereby enabling you to more effortlessly type messages in the few games that support text chat. Its true purpose, in my opinion, is to make it easier to input text in Nintendo’s eShop. Two quick notes about the Armor3: it does not charge Joy-Con controllers that are attached to it, and its USB cable measures 10 feet in length, which should clear the distance between your couch and the Switch dock.

While it is nowhere near as cool as Nintendo’s official Gamecube controller combined with a keyboard from the early 2000s, I am delighted to be in a world where Hyperkin’s keyboard exists, if only to continue the legacy of these wacky-looking peripherals. The Armor3 is also compatible with PS4, PC, and Mac.
